About Hex Nut

Hex nuts are the baseline nut — six flats give a wrench enough purchase for full torque. Thickness sets tensile capacity: DIN 934 standard nuts carry the load, DIN 439 jam nuts suit tight spaces or lock as a back nut.

Zinc-plated steel: Lowest cost with adequate strength.
304 stainless: Outdoor, wet and food service.
316 stainless: Marine and chemical.
Brass: Conductive, for terminals and earthing.

How to choose

Match the nut property class to the bolt — a class 8 nut for a class 8.8 bolt.
Jam nuts are not a substitute for a full-height nut under load.
Stainless on stainless galls easily; use anti-seize.
